The Experience

 I attended a one hour bible study and prayer meeting. Ten minutes to the close of the meeting, the minister in charge began with the closing prayers while the rest of us affirmed Amen! During that time, the Holy Spirit laid in my heart something very interesting, something I had never thought of, something I was made to understand is one of the weapons the devil has being using against the children of God, for as long as only God knows.

That was a light bulb moment for me. So instantly, I thanked God for the new knowledge. God speaks and reveals things to his people in diverse ways, as long as we are sensitive enough to catch the frequency. Haven said that, I am convinced that this same revelation has been given to some other people. So please take this as a reminder or an information alert that must not be taken with levity. And I pray that The Spirit of God will give you even more incite to understand and have a deeper relation.

Please Read Carefully;
You know that feeling you get when you are completely engrossed in the presence of God (whether during your local church service, house fellowship, conference, seminar, crusade or even your private time with God). At that moment, you wish it would continue forever and even after that service or your time with God, you still bask in the euphoria, some people refer to it as "The God time". But a few days later, a couple of hours for some and a few minutes later for others, it all starts to fade. We begin to reset as if to a default mode. (if I am not the only one who feels like this sometimes, nod your head to the Glory of God).

Now the thing here is, apart from sin that creates a distance between God and us, the devil also works consciously and effortlessly to make us forget that beautiful, in-explainable, priceless, soulful, blessed, and privileged experience in God's presence.

There are two key words of note in this article, 'Forget' and 'Underplay'.

As human beings, when we taste (eat or drink) or experience something great, we intuitively become Oliver Twist (want more), and for some people, it could form a habit. A habit is formed when there is a conscious and voluntary repetition of an activity or activities over a long period of time.

The devil knows that in the presence of God there is fullness of joy, peace, love, rest, courage and happiness that can only be obtained and established in God. He knows that a constant remembrance of that experience will make us want more, he knows that the more we are in God's presence actively listening to that Sunday school, that sermon, those testimonies, enjoying that praise and worship, enjoying our personal time with God, participating during that prayer time, feeling that closeness to heaven, the more we want more of God. The more of a better person we want to become, the more we want to renew our minds, stay away from any form of sin and do God's will (be Christ-like). I bet the devil is a good analyst.

The devil can't afford for all these to happen, so what does he do? he causes us to have spiritual amnesia (a partial or total loss of memory). We forget what it feels like to be honoured by God's presence or out-rightly downplay the whole experience and its significance in our lives. This is when we remember we went to church or a fellowship last Sunday or any other day. We remember who we saw and didn't see. We remember what we even wore (because of cause who wants to repeat clothes right!) but we don't remember the worship songs, the prayer points, nor the text and title of the sermon, we can't even give a summary of what we can say we learnt. Yes we remember it was a powerful service but can't remember what we felt during that service. Which by the way, is meant to help us follow up in the cause of the week, month and years ahead. This also applies to our personal time with God in our homes, offices or shops.

The sad thing now is that it has become a norm, a habit has been formed, through the assistance of the devil, without we Christians actually realising it.

I pray someone can relate to this...

the word of God in Hosea 4 verse 6, when God was accusing Israel, he said "my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..." I believe this is still evident in our society and Christendom today.

I am happy to share this and let you know that there are certain truths that we need to be aware of, so we can understand how to go before God in prayers for ourselves and on behalf of those around us.

Believe it or not, satan is real, as God is real. Satan is not a lazy being, oh believe it! he is constantly, looking for and creating weapons and tactics to fight the Christians, we can't be ignorant! So when we have a knowledge of his many schemes, we have to counter attack. What will you do with this information?

Apostle Paul was very aware of the dangers satan poses to Christians. I urge us to follow Paul's example where he said "lest satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices."

Please say these prayers, copy and add to your prayer point list every now and then;

*I thank you Lord for availing me the privilege of your presence.
*Lord help me to always remember what it feels like to be in your presence.
*I decree and declare that the devil will not steal my experience of you anymore.
*Father help me to be the doer and not just the hearer of your word.
In Jesus' name, Amen

Please Share with everyone you know to help break the chains of ignorance.

Love
Chidimma
